Farm life.
A change of plans.

Let’s just say this bull and the farmer had different ideas about personal space. Farm life keeps us on our toes.

This wasn't our planned beef offering. It's a special batch from a bull we unexpectedly processed, offered at a lower price. Ask about the cuts you’re looking for—we confirm current availability and quantities personally before accepting an order.

Room to root.
Time to grow.

Our pigs are pasture-raised for at least 18 months and fed non-GMO feed. Our pork is not certified organic. A longer farm story, from the first muddy snout to your family table.

A pig should get to be a pig.

Pasture gives pigs opportunities to explore, root, forage, and express their natural behaviors. We believe good animal care starts with giving them room to live like pigs.

Happy, healthy animals are what we work toward. Raising them this way is a commitment to their daily lives, long before they become food.

Pasture-raised. Non-GMO fed.

Our pork has its own story: time outside, room to root, and non-GMO feed. Our organic certification claim applies to our beef and dairy, not our pork.

Pasture-raised pigs have room to root and forage. Their feeding needs differ from cattle; pasture-raised pork is a different farming story from our grass-finished beef.

Good food with plenty to offer.

Pork provides complete protein, B vitamins including thiamin and vitamin B12, and minerals such as zinc and selenium. It's a satisfying ingredient for meals built around vegetables, beans, whole grains, and whatever is in season.

Different cuts bring different strengths—from tenderloin and chops to slow-cooked shoulder and rich, flavorful bacon. Looking for smaller cuts for a smaller household? Tell us your preferred size and we’ll check package weights. Pork soup bones are available to request for stock and slow simmering.

Full flavor, from snout to skillet.

Our pasture-raised pork brings rich, satisfying flavor to the table. Pork fat brings richness to a roast, a skillet of sausage, or a well-seared chop. It contains a mix of unsaturated and saturated fats. An animal's diet can influence that mix, along with breed and other factors.

Our emphasis is pasture, time, and care. We let the food tell its own story at the table.

Know the farm behind your food.

You can ask how the animals were raised and choose the cuts that fit your cooking. Explore our beef and pork cut lists, then ask about current availability. We check each request before confirming your order.

Nutrient amounts vary with the cut, recipe, and preparation. Pasture access and age alone do not establish a particular vitamin level or fatty-acid profile.

Getting to know heritage pigs

What makes a Mangalitsa different?

That woolly coat is hard to miss. Mangalitsa pigs are a heritage breed known for slower growth and richly marbled pork. For cooks, the appeal is deep flavor and the richness that fat brings to a roast or skillet.

Pasture gives pigs room to forage, but they also need a balanced diet suited to pigs. A breed story is only part of the picture; feed, care and the individual animal matter too.

Organic and grass-fed
tell different stories.

Why organic? Our beef & dairy

Non-GMO is part of the story.
Organic goes further.

Our animals are raised on non-GMO pastures. At Milk and Meadow Heritage Dairy, we also care about how that pasture is grown, what goes into the feed, and how the animals are cared for. That’s why organic matters to us.

A non-GMO claim addresses genetic engineering. By itself, it doesn’t tell you which pesticides or fertilizers were used to grow the feed, or how livestock were raised.

USDA organic standards prohibit genetic engineering and most synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. They also require organic agricultural feed, restrict animal-care inputs, prohibit added growth hormones and antibiotics in organic production, and require records and inspections. Needed treatment must never be withheld from a sick animal to preserve its organic status.

For us, the pasture, the feed, and the animal belong in the same conversation. Organic gives us a set of standards for that whole picture.

Certified organic. Certified grass-fed. Grass-finished. Our beef brings those commitments together: organic standards for feed, pasture and animal care, plus a grass-and-forage diet without grain finishing.

Beef with a little more character.

We like our beef to taste like beef. This batch is particularly lean, with a full, beef-forward flavor. If you enjoy a leaner bite and meat with character, this is a batch to try.

For our beef, grass-fed means more than being out in a field

A grass-and-forage diet can include pasture, hay, and other qualifying forage. The USDA description of grass-fed excludes grain and grain by-products after weaning. An animal eating some grass alongside grain isn't the same as an animal raised on a forage-only diet.

Feeding systems can affect flavor, fat composition, and the eating experience. Breed, age, finishing, and processing also matter. Research often finds more omega-3 fatty acids in grass-finished beef, but amounts vary; a feed claim does not guarantee a particular nutrient level or health outcome.

What applies to this particular batch?

Our beef is certified grass-fed and grass-finished. The farmer confirms a grass-and-forage-only diet, with no grain finishing. Our beef is certified organic and certified grass-fed, and is grass-finished. Our pork is pasture-raised and non-GMO fed; it is not organic. These terms describe complementary standards and farming practices.
